A favorite Comfort Food Classic that is so quick, easy, and delicious with a simple Tomato Sauce! Perfect Meal for Sunday Soul Food or any Night of the week!
1-1/2 pounds ground chuck
1 small onion, grated or chopped
1 extra large egg
1/3 cup whole milk
1 1/2 heaping tbsp ketchup
1 tsp garlic powder
Seasoning salt and black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup dried bread crumbs
Simple Tomato Sauce
2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
1/2 can water
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp white sugar
Black pepper, to taste
Note: You can use 1 end bread, crumbled or Italian bread crumbs. Also instead of ground chuck, you can use ground beef, ground turkey, or ground chicken. You can also use 2% milk instead of whole milk and any seasonings.
For the Tomato Sauce: You can use any seasonings you prefer-Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Cayenne Pepper, etc.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a large bowl, mix all ingredients together with your hands or a spoon. Shape meat mixture into a loaf form. Put it in a 9x13 inch foiled baking dish. Bake uncover for 1 hour and 30 minutes without Sauce.
Tomato Sauce: In a medium bowl, mix all ingredients together. Add sauce all over the sides of the meatloaf or pour it all over and bake for the last 30 minutes. Remove meatloaf from the oven and place it on a tray and serve.
