Whenever someone asks me for a recommendation for a great Les Paul, this is always the one I point them to - a 70s/80s Gibson The Paul/Firebrand. These are fantastic guitars for the money. In stock condition, they have the same electronics as a Les Paul Custom. This means TTOP pickups which can sell for a pretty penny on their own (this is the reason why people part these guitars out quite frequently.)

Body construction wise, they are a little different. A The Paul will have a walnut body and neck, however these were later rebranded as ‘Firebrand’ guitars and the Deluxe models were made of all mahogany. The only thing missing on a deluxe model is the maple top as compared to a Les Paul Custom. Cosmetically, they are missing the binding, mother of pearl logo and fancy block inlays, but what these The Paul/Firebrand guitars have over them is a slightly thinner body with comfort cutaways on the front and back of the guitar! This makes the guitar incredibly comfortable to play AND it helps keep the weight down. These are generally 8.5-10lb guitars which is reasonable for a 70s/80s Les Paul.

These are also great ‘project’ guitars. You can pick up a husk of one of these for less than the price of a Les Paul studio and transform it into your dream guitars with the help of your luthier. If I had to choose one Les Paul and money WAS a factor - this would be it!

If you’re ever asking yourself - ‘What Les Paul Should I Buy’ or ‘What’s the Best Les Paul for the Money?’ It is this one.

The only ‘downside’ to these guitars - depending on who you are - is they generally have slim 60s necks and the frets are the typical low/flat frets. This means extreme bends might not be as easy for you if you do a lot of them. If you prefer taller frets stock - I would suggest an early 90s Les Paul Studio with an ebony fretboard.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. 🎥

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced 🤔

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. 🔍

Creating Truly Random Links 🛠️

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube 📺

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎵

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact 🤑

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. 📈
