Descrição e historia

Sonic Riders (ソニックライダーズ,, Sonikku Raidāzu?) é um jogo electrónico de corrida da Sega para as plataformas Playstation 2, Xbox, Gamecube e PC, baseado no mundo da série de videgames Sonic the Hedgehog. O atrativo deste jogo é que eles usam Extreme Gears para competir, diferente de Sonic Drift, onde os personagens usavam carros e Sonic R, em que os personagens corriam a pé (com algumas exceções). Estas airboards usam ar como combustível, que pode ser adquirido de diversas maneiras durante as provas. Foi também o último jogo de Sonic para Xbox e Gamecube.

Em Sonic Riders cada personagem tem um atributo. SPEED (Sonic, Jet,Amy,Shadow,Ulala,E10000-R), FLY (Tails, Wave,Cream,Nights,Rouge) ou POWER (Knuckles, Storm,Eggman, Ai Ai,E10000-G). Cada atributo tem suas vantagens e desvantagens.

Sonic Riders conta com 5 personagens novos, mais 3 personagens da Sega, totalizando 17 personagens disponíveis no jogo. Os personagens novos são: Jet the Hawk, Wave the Swallow, Storm the Albatross, E-10000R e E-10000G.

SEGA Carnival - É uma pista animada, que mostra uma pequena cidade, um barco e uma lua em plena luz do dia, e por toda cidade existe propagandas de jogos recentes da sega, como Billy Hatcher and the giant egg, nights journey of dreams, samba de amigo, super monkey ball e crazy taxi.

Pra desbloquear Rouge,cream e shadow basta zerar o sonic story. Eggman no babylon story. Ulala, nights e aiai no mission mode jet, wave e storm, E10000-G jogando o jogo por 20 horas e E10000-R jogando por 50 horas

SEGA Illusion - Essa pista é de ilusões, onde há inumeráveis bandeirinhas, a lua de nights e uma nave branca que veio do jogo space channel 5 com a perssonagem Ulala, faz também propagandas de nights journey of dreams, samba de amigo, space chanel 5 e chuchu rocket.

Há várias formas de se adquirir ar no jogo, desde fazer manobras até atacando seus advesários no jogo. Há três tipos de Extreme Gears: Skates (patins), Bikes (motos) e Gears (pranchas). Os Skates são usados principalmente por Shadow e Bikes por Dr. Eggman.
