A native to the mountain ranges of Central Asia, the snow leopard (Panthera uncia or Uncia uncia) is a moderately large cat.

They may be slightly smaller thane the other big cats but exhibit a range of sizes from 27 and 55 kg, with an occasional large male reaching 75 kg and a small female being under 25 kg.

To minimize heat loss, their bodies are stocky, their fur is thick, and their ears are small and rounded. To distribute their weight better for walking on snow their paws are wide.

The snow leopard was first described by Schreber in 1775, in the Kopet-Dag Mountains in Turkmenistan and Iran.

In summer, snow leopards usually live above the tree line on mountainous meadows and in rocky regions at altitudes from 2,700 to 6,000 m (8,900 to 20,000 ft).

In winter, they come down into the forests to altitudes around 1,200 to 2,000 m (3,900 to 6,600 ft).

Although they prefer to use existing trails made by other animals, they walk more on broken terrain and can travel without difficulty in snow up to 85 cm (33 in) deep.

Using the momentum of their initial leap, they will actively pursue prey down steep mountainsides, for up to 300 m (980 ft).

Their lethal killing style is a furious bite to the neck and then drag the prey to a safe location before feeding.

Numerous agencies are working to conserve the snow leopard and its threatened mountain ecosystems.

In India, there are around 200-600 snow leopards left.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
