Carlisle Railway Station - featuring LMS Royal Scot 46115 and LMS Jubilee 45690 Video

A visit to Carlisle railway station on Saturday 21st March 2015.

Carlisle is situated on the west coast main line and the principal services are provided by Virgin Trains running between Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Birmingham using class 390 'Pendolino' and class 221 'Voyager' tilting trains. Transpennine Express also serves here with services between Glasgow, Edinburgh and Manchester Airport. Other train companies to use Carlisle are Scotrail with services to Dumfries and Northern Rail who provide stopping services to Whitehaven, Barrow-in-Furness and Lancaster via the Cumbrian Coast, Leeds via the Settle and Carlisle and Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

At the very end of this video we see the arrival and departure of not one but TWO steam specials! Firstly, 'The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express' hauled by LMS Royal Scot 46115 'Scots Guardsman'. Unfortunately due to a lineside fire, the return working of this had to be piloted by a diesel locomotive. Then there is LMS Jubilee 45690 'Leander' with 'The Cumbrian Jubilee'.
