Computerspiele gibt es nicht nur auf auf klassischen Datenträgern wie CDs oder Disketten oder aus dem Internet. Software und Spiele gibt es auch als sogenanntes „Listing“ auf Papier. In den Anfangszeiten der Computerei gab es wie im Video zu sehen Bücher und Zeitschriften mit abgedruckten Programmen.

Diese Listings waren meistens in Basic oder Maschinensprache geschrieben und mussten per Hand aufwändig in den Atari, Commodore 64, Sinclair oder Texas Instruments Heimcomputer eingetippt werden. Das Eintippen dauerte oft mehrere Stunden und dann erst zeigte sich die Qualität der Software. Manchmal waren die Spiele sehr gut, manchmal waren sie sehr einfach oder das Spiel war unspielbar.

Später lagen den Büchern und Zeitschriften Disketten dabei und man verzichtete auf das Abdrucken der Programmlistings. Im Video seht Ihr das Spiel „Städte-Verteidigung“, wie man es eintippt, auf Floppy speichert, Fehler findet (ERROR) und den Unterschied zum Klassiker „Missile Command“.
