Rostrevor; Kilbroney Park, The Fairy Glen, Ross Monument Video

Home
Check out the best things to do and see in Rostrevor, County Down. We cover the Rostrevor Forest Park, Fairy Glen beside it (Kilbroney Park) and at the bottom of the town we capture the beach and the Ross Monument.

This is one of our favourite locations to visit outside of Belfast - the scenery is amazing!

Rostrevor is a village and townland in county Down, Northern Ireland, it is within Newry, Mourne and Down District. Rostrevor is one of our favorite spots for the different things that it could bring to the view as well as the things that one could actually enjoy doing there. Rostrevor lies at the foot of Slieve Martin on the coast of Carlingford Lough, and also the Kilbroney River flows through the village; so it is eventually lots of different things to be seen there.

Generally speaking, one of the most famous places for one to visit in Northern Ireland is Narnia and CS Lewis Square (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrNh2d768tM), that's of course in addition to the famous Narnia Trail in Rostrevor (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkoFJbiQqPA), and since we are in Rostrevor, we have to share with you the fact that the Mourne Mountains were a huge inspiration for C.S. Lewis' Narnia and even the village itself was part of this inspiration. It is actually the place where Lewis told his brother Warren that the part of Rostrevor that overlooks Carlingford Lough is his idea of Narnia.

Rostrevor is known to be an area of historical interest and folklore - which is another reason why we consider it one of our favorite places to visit when it comes to getting outside Belfast - and this goes back to the different landmarks which are found there, such as The Big Stone (Cloughmore) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54n3xc8X2Us), St. Bronagh's 6th century church and bell and Giant Murphy's Grave.

Through this journey in Rostrevor which we have been on, we also visited the Ross Monument which is located on Shore Road and which was restored in 2008 after being erected in 1826. This monument was actually constructed to honour Major General Robert Ross who fought in both Europe and America, and also to celebrate a victory over the American forces at Bladensburg. Choosing this place goes back to being the same place that General Robert Ross wanted to build his retirement home at.

We love nothing more than the parks and walking through them to enjoy the beautiful nature. When it comes to Rostrevor, there are actually several scenic walkways through Rostrevor Forest and Kilbroney Park (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaSIk8rdWCo), and there is also the Fairy Glen which is considered the good choice for a short stroll in Rostrevor - we would recommend that. The Fairy Glen is actually located on the left immediately after the bridge and it is also beside the entrance for the Kilbroney Park.

The walk inside this village starts in the village on the Kilkeel side of the bridge and follows the Kilbroney River upstream for half a mile.

Rostrevor Fairy Glen provides the start of a walk that will provide the walker with different beautiful scenery that ranges between riverside to scenic parkland and woodland - this is one of the most beautiful places that one could come across in general and not just while mentioning Rostrevor and the different places which one could visit while being there (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmHKEb2npe4).

We have been to Rostrevor several times and every single one of them we love the place even more than before. We have walked through the town and we entered the park, but in addition to that, we have also went through the Narnia Trail with the kids (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oxTWDC4JHRA) so that we could all experience the things and statues which we placed there and which are related to the Chronicles of Narnia which were written by C.S. Lewis - which turned out to be an interesting thing to spot those characters and statues out and start linking them to the novels which you have read before.

This is one of the different things and places that one could visit while being in Northern Ireland and as we have already mentioned, it is one of our favorite places when it comes to going outside Belfast and exploring the rest of the places which are scattered all around the country.

We at Connolly Cove believe that choosing the place which we are going to visit will always depend on every single person's nature; whether they love the modern places or else love the old historic ones, whether they prefer shops and busy streets or else nature and quiet places; from our side, we love to experience both things and bring these experiences back to you.

Rostrevor is one of those places which are considered from the quiet and more related to nature ones and that might be one of the different reasons why we love to visit it every now and then.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
