How to Setup Cisco ASA 5520 Firewall on A New version of GNS3 ( ver 1.2.3)
For CCNA Security and CCNP Security exam you need to learn and practice the Cisco ASA Firewall. (firewall is a device used in it network security,network security services,network security solutions,secure network,)
by using GNS3 network Simulator you can emulate the ASA Firewall on your PC Desktop or Laptop.
you can console & configure the router like a real actual hardware which is great for learners and certification exam takers and also for network engineers/network administrator for testing the setting before implementing on their enterprise network firewall.
Below is the complete configuration steps for How to Setup Cisco ASA 5520 Firewall on A New version of GNS3 ( version 1.2.3)
first download below files
GNS 3:-
http://www.gns3.com/Initrd and vmlinuz file :-
http://tinyurl.com/p8qxpyyOpen command prompt as an administrator
C:\windows\system32 - cd C:\Program Files\GNS3\qemu
C:\Program Files\GNS3\qemu - qemu-img create FLASH 512M
Open gns3
Go to edit - preference
Go to QEMU - QEMU VMs
Click on new :- enter “name” - ASA and “type” - ASA 8.4 (2) and click next
Now select “Qemu binary” version and “RAM” and click next
On Linux Boot specific settings Browse the path for Initial RAM disk (Initrd) file and “Kernel image” vmlinuz file and click finish
Now click on edit, Go to HDD and browse the path of FLASH that we have created via cmd prompt (cd C:\Program Files\GNS3\qemu)
click on Advance Settings & Set Kernel Command Line to "ide_generic.probe_mask=0x01 ide_core.chs=0.0:980,16,32 auto nousb console=ttyS0,9600 bigphysarea=65536 ide1=noprobe no-hltand"
Addition Settings Options Set to "-icount auto -hdachs 980,16,32 -vga none -vnc none" click apply then ok
Drag the ASA on GNS3 and click Start
Right click on asa and click console you will get the console after boot sequence completed (3-5 minutes)
Note :- you can also select qemu-2.1.0
C:\windows\system32 - cd C:\Program Files\GNS3\qemu-2.1.0
C:\Program Files\GNS3\qemu-2.1.0 - qemu-img create FLASH 512M
