- we have market crashes where the whole world is selling and everything is falling thru the floor.
- we have little mini-panics where we have little blasts to the downside and anywhere in between.
The opportunity presents itself when people are trading based on irrationality or urgency and it often happens when there is panic selling.
What panic selling really means is forced selling or lack of liquidity. If a market is falling traders with big positions will be forced to close or reduce their positions thus triggering more stops... In other situations in a general bear market hedge funds and fund management companies may be forced to close positions at whatever the price if people want to liquidate their trades. We can profit from this if we can identify it but we still need to be careful because if we get in the beginning of a bear market it could be catastrophic for us.
