Is the BMW 4 Series as good as it seems for a 2 door German RWD sports car? I think it could be one of the best! The BMW 428i is one of my favorite cars to ever come out of BMW, and I truly feel that the BMW 428i is a huge step in the right direction for BMW. The 4 Series feels so much more engaging than the outgoing 3 Series Coupe model.
In this video, I go over the 6 things I love about the BMW 4 Series with a list of my favorite things about the BMW 428i.
The first thing I love about the BMW 4 Series is the fact that the 428i is a true sports car. No, it's not an M4, but I don't think that matters. The 428i is my favorite type of sporty - less power, more handling. Don't get me wrong; the BMW 4 Series is incredibly quick. But the entire car feels so balanced. The BMW 428i comes alive when you start taking it around corners, and it's one of the things I love most about the BMW 4 Series.
Another thing I love about the BMW 4 Series is the fuel consumption.I know good fuel consumption and sporty driving don't really go together, but that's one of the things I love most about the BMW 428i. Because the engine is just a 2 liter with a biturbo system, the BMW 4 Series gets incredible gas milage. Even after a session of driving enthusiastically around backroad (I mean tracks), the BMW 428i still manages to get around 24 MPG. Pretty impressive when you consider how wild this car can be.
The gearbox is another features of the BMW 4 Series that I absolutely love! In my "7 Things I Hate About the BMW 428i," I mentioned that I hated the gearbox. And for daily driving, the gearbox is far from the best. However, the BMW 4 Series gearbox comes alive when you drive for fun. Engaging sport mode in the BMW 4 Series changes everything, and it makes the entire 428i BMW feel completely different. The paddle shifters make the entire experience of driving the BMW 4 Series so much more fun, and it's one of the things I love most about the BMW 428i.
Another great thing that I love about the BMW 4 Series is all of the luxury that is included in the car. I know the 428i was never meant to be a stripped down sports car to compete with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, but the 428i has so much luxury that you sometimes forget you're driving a sports car. And while I'm sure all of the luxury in the BMW 428i lowers fuel consumption and causes the car to handle less perfectly, it doesn't seem to do any damage to the fun factor. That's one of my favorite things that I love about the BMW 4 Series.
The last thing that I really love about the BMW 4 Series is the very specific to our BMW 428i - the color and wheels. The BMW 4 Series is such a good looking car, and I love how the BMW 428i looks. Modern BMW design is a bit dull and questionable, but the 4 Series remains one of the greatest looking cars that the company has built. I think that the BMW 4 Series will go down as one of the best looking BMWs ever built for the modern age. I love the BMW 4 Series wheels and the paint color, and I think it's one of the most beautiful BMW models ever built.
