Today is Tuesday 25th July 2017 and we are commenting on a report published by the BBC yesterday about how employees of one Wisconsin Company are racing to get themselves chipped.
Yes, A Wisconsin company is to become the first in the US to microchip employees. The company which is called Three Square Market is offering to implant the tiny radio-frequency identification (RFID) chip into workers' hands for free - and says “everyone will soon be doing it”.
The chip, about the size of a grain of rice and costing around $300 will allow the employees to open doors, log in to computers and even purchase food. Out of the 85 Head Office staff, 50 have immediately come forward for the implant.
Three Square Market are also working with a Swedish company, BioHax, to deliver the new technology, which they see as one day being simply another payment and identification method - only instead of a credit card or phone, there would be a microchip between your thumb and finger.
According to the company spokesperson, there is no GPS tracking ability to the microchip as currently it’s the same as the chip in one’s credit card. It is hoped that it will increase convenience for the owner by replacing everything one might have in their wallet – such as one’s key fob or credit card and ID. Apparently, inserting it and removing it takes just a matter of seconds.
