- Rolled hair = macaroni men in England.
- Madonna's pointy bra = bullet bras after the 2nd world war.
- Pencil skirt = hobble skirt, tied around the knees or the ankles.
- Padded shoulders = bombasted (padded, filled) sleeves under Elizaebth 1st.
- McQueen's futuristic looks in Spring/Summer 2010 = Renaissance culottes.
