I discuss several common problems encountered during research. This is part of my thesis help series which I discuss topics that are relevant for any that this in or thinking about graduate school. This is especially relevant for those that are in a Business School or doing a research graduate degree in the social sciences.
Most of us researchers have many problems that we encounter during research. It is pretty normal to have many problems during research. Here are some common research problems that I have experienced since I began doing research 17 years ago.
1. Uncertainty over the research question or problem. This is a common one and most of us struggle with having a clear idea of what we are researching. This struggle is normal, and you often will through several iterations of getting clarity of thought during any research program.
2. One research problem is not knowing what to read. Again, this is a common problem encountered during research. I normally do the best of my ability by first crafting the literature, than reading all of the recent literature on a particular topic, and finally by asking others or getting your reviewers to guide you in finding the best research on a particular topic.
3. Financial problems encountered during research. This is common, but few people talk about this research problem. I would keep moving forward with your research, without having the money. To a large part, you have to be entrepreneurial and figure out how you are going to build a research program as you go. You build and finance the program after you have jumped into the program.
4. Leadership problems with doing the research. It is often difficult to figure out who is responsible for doing the research. From my experience, you are responsible and simply just have to do the work to get it done. Donโt wait for others to get the research done or do it for you.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.
https://r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform
A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.
The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. ๐ฅ
Origins of the Idea ๐ฑ
The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. ๐ง
Challenges Faced ๐ค
Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.
Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. ๐
Creating Truly Random Links ๐ ๏ธ
The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.
About YouTube ๐บ
YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. ๐
Content and Users ๐ต
Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.
While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.
Monetization and Impact ๐ค
YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.
As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. ๐
