This is another combined DIY & life hack video which I hope you'll find useful ^_^! I get lots of questions about my thumbnail photos so I decided to make this tutorial to show you guys exactly how I take them. You might be surprised to know that I use a smartphone for all my DIY photos, and I almost never use studio lights unless I'm actually filming at night. A big thanks to Huawei who provided their new metallic blue model of the P9 for demonstration.
Getting a bit technical, taking good photos is about finding the right between quality (dpi/resolution) and efficiency (time/storage space). If your pictures are only going to be used for YouTube and Instagram, then you do not need massive 600dpi copies of each image. At the same time, you do not want tiny pictures which might look fine on mobile but will be pixellated on desktop.
As a rule of thumb, my original images are normally 300dpi jpgs that are about 1-3mb in size. This is the default "highest quality" setting on most smartphones. SLR/DLSR cameras tend to produce much higher quality (4-10 mb per pic) but I feel that's almost too much for images that will only be used on screen and not in print. That will clog up your hard drive very quickly and waste your time waiting for things to load or render.
Lastly, this video only shows you the best way to TAKE photos so you have the best possible starting image to work with. In order to create a complete thumbnail with text and layout, you'll need to edit it further on computer! I use Photoshop which I heartily recommend, but there's no easy way to explain that in one video so you have to check out online tutorials or local courses. GIMP is a free open-source program that can do almost everything Photoshop can, so that's a great alternative if you're on a budget.

About the Site 🌐
This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. 🎥
Origins of the Idea 🌱
The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠
Challenges Faced 🤔
Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.
Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. 🔍
Creating Truly Random Links 🛠️
The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.
About YouTube 📺
YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟
Content and Users 🎵
Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.
While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.
Monetization and Impact 🤑
YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.
As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. 📈
