How to prevent your Car Battery going flat during Lockdown or through lack of use.
In this video I will show you how to prevent your car battery from dying.
Is your car battery dead? If you don't use it much it will degrade and you may need a car battery charger, I will show you how to check your battery and how to charge a flat car battery with a car battery charger.
It is important to keep your car battery in good condition and with a good charge. Car Batteries are 12volts so should never fall below this.
If you are not driving your car during lockdown this will mean the car battery will slowly be draining, modern cars have many onboard computers and also car alarms which are all using power from the car battery.

It's a good idea to put a protective paste over the battery terminals (this is what I have on my terminals), if you haven't got any you can use a dollop of Petroleum Jelly as this stops corrosion.

Also, if you are leaving your vehicle for any length of time try to avoid having the handbrake on as the brake pads can stick to the discs and they can lock.

You could buy a solar panel charger which sits on your dashboard and plugs into your cigarette lighter, but this is a very small charge and may not be enough to prevent car battery drain.

Ideally you would disconnect the battery before charging although I've never had a problem with low amp chargers damaging the battery or alternator. I do mention this at 2:10
