Curry leaves spice powder / karivepaku podi / karuveppilai podi what ever the name is, It is a very tasty side dish(spice powder) for either breakfast/lunch/ Dinner. Curry Leaf spice powder is a simple, healthy and nutritious recipe that can be replaced with regular dals or curries. Karepaaku Podi is made from curry leaves, lentils and few other spices. This dish best suits for idly, dosa, or rice etc.
Curryleaves powder /Kariveppilai Podi / Karivepaku podi , is a very healthy and nutrition rich podi with the richness of curry leaves which has lots of medicinal values. Curry Leaves are rich in protein and fibre. They stimulate hair growth and repairs hair follicles from damage. They make hair thick and black. Curry leaves are also rich in iron which helps to improve haemoglobin.

Ingredients
1. Curry Leaves - 1.5 Cups
2. Dry Red Chilies - 9 to 10
3. Black Gram (Urad Dal) - 3 Tablespoons
4. Coriander seeds - 2 Tablespoons
5. Cooking Oil - 1 Teaspoon
6. Cumin seeds - 1 Tablespoon
7. Garlic Cloves - 2 (Optional)
8. Tamarind Flakes - small lemon sized ball
9. Salt as per taste
10. Jaggery - 1 Tablespoon

Directions
1. To a pan, add some cooking oil and let the oil heat for some time.
2. Add Urad Dal and sauté them on a low flame until they become light golden in color.
3. Next add the coriander seeds and cumin seeds.
4. Once the flavors come out which requires 4-5 minutes of sautéing (on low flame) or if there is a slight add red chilies. Saute for 2 more minutes.
5. Next, add curry leaves and fry them till they become crispy.
6. When it is crispy, take them out and transfer them to the plate. Allow them ingredients to cool for sometime.
7. Add the dals to a blender and make a coarse powder.
8. Now add salt, tamarind and jaggery and blend again.
9. Lastly add the fried curry leaves and blend. Mix everything well.
the curry leaves spice powder is ready. Store this powder in any air tight container for up to 6 months.
