Listen to my new podcasts:
https://podcasts.apple.com/nz/podcast/r3ciprocity-podcast/id1588972364Knowing when to start a PhD is a big decision. Many people think that you should do a PhD before 30, or immediately after undergraduate school. However, you will be surprised by how many people actually do their PhD in their 30s.
Indeed, most people that pursue a PhD in Business Administration will be doing a PhD in their 30s.
Why do people pursue a PhD in their 30s in the business school? The primary reason is that most PhDs in Business administration usually require an MBA or in an equivalent degree. It is totally normal to start a PhD in Business Administration in your early and even late 30s.
Here is what you need to know if you are think about a PhD and age:
1. If you choose to do a research intensive PhD in Business, know that the outcomes of doing research generally take a long time. If you start your PhD in Strategy in your 40s, for example, you might not get tenure at a Business School until you are 55. This could be even later.
2. Young PhDโs are usually greatly discounted in the classroom. This is especially true if you are expecting to teach executives or MBAs. Being older or doing your PhD at 30 is often an asset if you want to teach.
3. At the current moment we are facing a situation where are many senior people that are looking to retire but few people are able to replace their administrative roles. People with administrative experience might actually have an advantage when they are thinking of roles like the Dean of a Business School.
4. If you have a family, you will face many more demands in school than other students will. This is fine, but just know that there are lots to do in school and you will be making many family-work trade-offs.

David Maslach is a research professor of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business strategy, I discuss topics, such as behavioral science, strategy, innovation, and entrepreneurship, and apply these to my new peer proofreading and editing platform. Topics include the sharing economy, altruism, investing in technology, starting a business, and bounded rationality. My favorite videos pertain to incentives, goal setting, and learning from failure to drive behaviors such as weight loss, stopping telemarketers, creating novel technologies, and creating new movements.
https://r3ciprocity.com: Peer proofreading and editing platform
A new platform where you can earn credits by editing other people's documents. Use these credits to have your own work edited. If you do a good enough job, you can convert these credits to money.
The goal of the platform is to get people to 'pay it forward' and help other people out by creating incentives for people to give back.

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. ๐ฅ
Origins of the Idea ๐ฑ
The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. ๐ง
Challenges Faced ๐ค
Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.
Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. ๐
Creating Truly Random Links ๐ ๏ธ
The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.
About YouTube ๐บ
YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. ๐
Content and Users ๐ต
Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.
While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.
Monetization and Impact ๐ค
YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.
As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. ๐
