The construction of Belfast City Hall began in 1898 under the supervision of Sir Alfred Brumwell Thomas and it was eventually completed in 1906. Since that time, the City Hall passed by several steps in its long life until it reached the point it is standing at nowadays - it is actually open for the visitors during certain times of the day so that they could come in and check the building themselves.
The exterior of the building is mainly from the Portland Stone and is built in the Baroque Revival style and it has its own closed courtyard as well. During the summer days, you will find people sitting in the garden just outside the City Hall building and enjoying the weather of summer with the Victoria Square shopping centre and Belfast wheel in their background.
When it comes to the interior of City Hall, there are a couple of important things to be mentioned and from them there is the Porte-Cochere and Grand Entrance, the Grand Staircase, the Reception Room as well as the Great Hall.
