Game Of Thrones Filming Locations - Lough Neagh aka Summer Sea in GOT - Season 5 Episode 5 - "Kill The Boy"

Lough Neagh was also transformed into the Smoking Sea, where Jorah steals a boat, takes Tyrion captive and sets sail to meet Daenerys in Meereen. Tyrion wakes up in the boat after being knocked unconscious and realizes where they are... the Ruins of Old Valria.

This part of the epic TV show Game of Thrones was filmed on a quiet part of Lough Neagh - right along the shore line, where the trees twist strangely; a perfect setting.

For those who are not familiar with what Lough Neagh is, Lough Neagh is the largest lake by area in the British Isles and in general it is a large freshwater lake in Northern Ireland. Lough Neagh is located 20 miles west of Belfast and it is 20 miles long and 9 miles wide.

The interesting thing about Lough Neagh is that five out of the six counties in Northern Ireland share shores with it, and these counties are Antrim, Down, Armagh, Tyrone, and Londonderry, the only county that does not share a shore with them is Fermanagh.

Lough Neagh is known to be used for different purposes according to the one using it; there are those ordinary people who enjoy watching the birds and fishing or just walking by it and sitting down to relax a bit, and there are those working with boats who use it for navigation purposes, and it is also used by Northern Ireland Water as a source of fresh water supply, which means that there are different other reasons to know more about Lough Neagh other than being part of Game of Thrones movie series that was filmed in Northern Ireland.

Game of Thrones movie series managed to take and film most of its scenes and shots in Northern Ireland and it actually succeeded in choosing those which are considered the most attracting and there were even some locations which people didn't know about before, which brought lots of GOT fans later to Northern Ireland and made them head for those places and check them off their lists.

The interesting thing about these different places in which Game of Thrones was filmed is that they started to place a board to tell people more about its appearance in the movie and at the same time inform them that they have reached their destination.

In addition to Lough Neagh, there were other locations that GOT was filmed at, such as Tollymore Forest Park in county Down (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2HsWSVLzGI), the Dark Hedges in county Antrim which is the pathway of trees that has been standing there for hundreds of years (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmAKfkn11Qc), Pollnagollum Cave in county Fermanagh is another spot where the movie was filmed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qSL5DmBvzE), there is also Glenariff which is known as 'Queen of the Glens' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DoUGw5mMUE), Mourne Mountains in county Down has also appeared (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMZGR_OtKx4), and also the Binevenagh Mountain in county Londonderry (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYQXeJm4D2o).

The interesting thing for those making a tour related to Game of Thrones movie is that they will not only come to the point of visiting the locations in Northern Ireland, but they will also reach out for the hotels, bars, pubs, and restaurants in which the 10 doors are located, and this is pretty much an interesting part for experiencing how beautifully those doors are made from wood.

From those doors which we have visited before; we went to Mary McBride's Bar to check door number 8 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyDD3LdIHu4), we visited Ballygally Castle Hotel for door number 9 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SnEqs1sBIU), we also visited Fullerton Arms for door number 6 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGZdoJdaWkg), there is also the Dark Horse Bar in Belfast Commercial Court where door number 10 is found (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEU1fHE50Sk), the Blakes of the Hollow pub is the destination for door number 4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqCYN1_pI-E), and we also went to the Percy French Restaurant in Newcastle, county Down, in order to see door number 3 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONv66SEr5FQ). Those which we still haven't been to in order to check will be on our plan so soon.

Lough Neagh is a beautiful place for those who want to relax and also for those who want to check Game of Thrones locations.

Some of the best locations around Ireland / Northern Ireland and further afield. A travel blog/vlog of the hidden treasures that are on our doorstep.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
