Game of Thrones Filming Location - Cushendun Caves NI Video

Home
Northern Ireland is filled with all those different locations which are related to Game of Thrones movie series - in addition to those restaurants, bars, pubs, and hotels that host the 10 doors that appeared throughout the episodes.

We have been to several of these locations - for the purpose of checking those famous places in Northern Ireland that appeared in the movie - and which lots of them had increased the number of visitors just because of the movie and the scenes that they appeared in.

Cushendun Caves is one of the different GOT locations that we have been to - first to check what this place carries in relation to Game of Thrones and the other part is to see this place in the country - and we have to mention that even though our intention was all related to Game of Thrones, we actually loved exploring the place.

The Cushendun Caves were formed millions of years back - about 400 million years - and due to some weather conditions. These caves are found just beyond the beautiful coastal village of Cushendun, walking down next to the Cave House.

There were different other locations that appeared in the movie which we have been to; we have been to the Dark Hedges which is one of our favorite places generally in Northern Ireland and also the one which appeared in the movie - and which is also believed to be the place where the wood of the fallen trees were taken and transformed to the doors which we have seen in the movie as well (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmAKfkn11Qc). Another Game of Thrones location is the Toome Canal in Toomebridge in county Antrim, which we have also visited to add to the list of GOT locations that we managed to go to (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1KqyF3tj7Y). Portstewart Strand is also located in Northern Ireland and is the place which we have visited to complete the list of places related to Game of Thrones that we should go to(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yD73BZpr0hg). Lough Neagh which was referred to as the smoking sea in Game of Thrones (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COUaQZJ8-kI) and the Downhill beach in Castlerock were also another two different locations in GOT which we visited (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DhqUuCqhC8).

The interesting thing is that most of these places are not just locations where Game of Thrones was filmed in but they tend to be important touristic places that tourists and even local Irish people could visit in their free time and check what they have to offer them - which was one of the things we were doing; we were checking the locations of GOT and at the same time checking those touristic places in Northern Ireland.

We have shared the locations which we visited and which are part of the movie, but this is not our whole story, we visited some restaurants, bars, pubs, and hotels in order to find the famous 10 doors that took part in the movie and we succeeded at reaching some of them - you will find that these places advertise for having the doors to make it easier for the people to find it and at the same time attract more people to the place in general.

We didn't yet finish the list of doors that appeared in the movie but we succeeded in reaching out for at least a number of them. Door number 8 was found in Mary McBride's Bar which is found in Cushendun, county Antrim, and which is close to the Cushendun Caves for those willing to check both of them (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyDD3LdIHu4). Door number 9 is situated in Ballygally Castle Hotel - which is also a place that one could check for the haunted room - (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SnEqs1sBIU). Door number 10 is placed in the Dark Horse Bar in Belfast Commercial Court (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEU1fHE50Sk). We came across door number 3 which is in Percy French Restaurant in Newcastle, county Antrim (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONv66SEr5FQ). There is also door number 4 in the Blakes of the Hollow pub in Enniskillen (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqCYN1_pI-E) as well as door number 6 in the Fullerton Arms Hotel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGZdoJdaWkg).

It was interesting to get inside the scenes of the movie episodes and experience the places that the scenes were filmed in to try and guess how the whole experience was like - which actually happened in those different locations we have been to and which we loved visiting and checking.

Some of the best locations around Ireland / Northern Ireland and further afield. A travel blog/vlog of the hidden treasures that are on our doorstep.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
