Home
The amazing TV show - Game of Thrones is famous due to the locations it is filmed in ;-) Northern Ireland. Check out our video of Toome Canal in Toomebridge County Antrim. Hope you like it :-)

Check out our guide to where the show was filmed around the North and see if you recognise any of the locations!!

Game of Thrones - one of the most critically acclaimed TV shows in recent years is immensely popular due to the storytelling of George RR Martin and the creative might of HBO. We have been lucky that a lot of the TV show was filmed in Northern Ireland.

We have already been to different locations that took place in the movie series and this time our trip was for the Toome Canal in Toomebridge. Toome Canal in Northern Ireland is located in county Antrim and it is part of the small town Toome which lies at the north west corner of Lough Neagh (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXi5kEWTC2Y), giving visitors different opportunities to enjoy there, such as walking, cycling, and canoeing.

In addition to being one famous location in county Antrim and also a place that offers good views and other things that people could enjoy doing, it has also won the public visits since it appeared in the movie series Game of Thrones and which a lot of the scenes it was filmed in happen to be in Northern Ireland, only making the fans planning visits to Northern Ireland just to check these filming locations - some of them are already part of the touristic attractions that people might be preparing to visit.

This Game of Thrones location - Toome Canal - which is part of the lower Bann River that flows from Lough Neagh to the Atlantic Ocean at Portstewart - which happens to be another filming location for this movie series (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yD73BZpr0hg) - is a place that we here at Connolly Cove consider perfect for all those who want to have some peace of mind as well as those who want to enjoy nature - which of course comes apart from the opportunities and the activities that it offers.

Toome Canal appeared in episode 5, season 5, Kill the Boy, when it was used to shoot the passage of Jorah Mormont and Tyrion Lannister through the ruins of Old Valyria. It is always interesting to pass by those locations which you are only used to see and spot them through the movies that you see on television and this was definitely how we felt while spotting the places and pointing our fingers to what happened in them.

From the other different filming locations in Northern Ireland which Game of Thrones was filmed at, we have visited our favorite spot and which is the Dark Hedges that is all about the passage of those old trees (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZmAKfkn11Qc), we have also been to another location which we fell in love with and which is the Cushendun Caves (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7dNEReGod4), the Binevenagh Mountain is another location related to the movie and one which we have managed to go to and check (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYQXeJm4D2o), we have also been to Larrybane which is just beside Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RXOUknZ5N4), and we also got the chance to visit Leitrim Lodge as well.

We have fallen in love with every single one of these different locations in Northern Ireland and loved seeing those GOT filming locations in real.

Through out the episodes and seasons of Game of Thrones, there were 10 different doors which were revealed throughout the episodes and some of them are also located in Northern Ireland and we also decided to go and check them. Door number 3 is in the Percy French Restaurant (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONv66SEr5FQ), door number 4 is in the Blakes of the Hollow Pub (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqCYN1_pI-E), door number 6 is in the Fullerton Arms Hotel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGZdoJdaWkg), door number 8 is in Mary McBride's Bar (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyDD3LdIHu4), door number 9 is in the Ballygally Castle Hotel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SnEqs1sBIU), and door number 10 is in the Dark Horse Bar (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEU1fHE50Sk); these are the ones which we have visited and checked the doors made out of wood art.

About the Site 🌐

This site provides links to random videos hosted at YouTube, with the emphasis on random. πŸŽ₯

Origins of the Idea 🌱

The original idea for this site stemmed from the need to benchmark the popularity of a video against the general population of YouTube videos. 🧠

Challenges Faced πŸ€”

Obtaining a large sample of videos was crucial for accurate ranking, but YouTube lacks a direct method to gather random video IDs.

Even searching for random strings on YouTube doesn't yield truly random results, complicating the process further. πŸ”

Creating Truly Random Links πŸ› οΈ

The YouTube API offers additional functions enabling the discovery of more random videos. Through inventive techniques and a touch of space-time manipulation, we've achieved a process yielding nearly 100% random links to YouTube videos.

About YouTube πŸ“Ί

YouTube, an American video-sharing website based in San Bruno, California, offers a diverse range of user-generated and corporate media content. 🌟

Content and Users 🎡

Users can upload, view, rate, share, and comment on videos, with content spanning video clips, music videos, live streams, and more.

While most content is uploaded by individuals, media corporations like CBS and the BBC also contribute. Unregistered users can watch videos, while registered users enjoy additional privileges such as uploading unlimited videos and adding comments.

Monetization and Impact πŸ€‘

YouTube and creators earn revenue through Google AdSense, with most videos free to view. Premium channels and subscription services like YouTube Music and YouTube Premium offer ad-free streaming.

As of February 2017, over 400 hours of content were uploaded to YouTube every minute, with the site ranking as the second-most popular globally. By May 2019, this figure exceeded 500 hours per minute. πŸ“ˆ
